The Ritz wanted aerial footage of their property as well as shots of the nearby park. This proved to be one of the most difficult drone shoots I've ever done. Flying drones is illegal in NYC/Central Park, and there are many park rangers and police on patrol in the southern end of the park. On top of that, the park was very crowded with people enjoying the sunshine and warm weather, so there was nearly impossible to find a private place to launch the drone. After scouting via Google Maps, I found an clearing in a wooded area to launch from. On top of the illegality of the flight, high winds funnel through the Manhattan skyscrapers and create a lot of turbulence. But at the end of the weekend, I was able to get establishing shots of the park and closeups of the hotel.
